This is a favorite image of mine that I created a while back. It is my second-highest scoring image, 97 out of a 100 at the state professional trade organization, but this isn’t why I love it. I love it because it represents a time where I could actually taste a sharpening of my craft. I had been doing architectural photography for years and my clientele did, and still often does, gravitate to a polished, realistic style. I had worked for years honing my skills in this way. This image is of the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, Ga. It has a beautiful interior that is photographed a lot so images of it can feel repetitive. When I went, instead of resisting the distortions that are inherent in this type of photography, I let go and went with the distortion, creating this unique, simple, and striking image. This represents two lessons: strive to master the basics so you can know how and when to break the rules, and going with can often be better than resisting. ... See MoreSee Less

Awesome pic! I actually worked on some of the construction drawings for the Pulse lounge (foreground) when I worked for tvsdesign in Atlanta. We wanted to respect Mr. Portman’s atrium design by using the negative space to create the shape while developing its on identity. I’ve seen hundreds of shots of this space, including my own, but never from this angle. Well done sir!

He is supervising that other guy to make sure he is doing it right.

He is taking all the credit for his underlings doing a good job? 😏

He is obviously a traveling CEO waiting for his private plane to get fixed so he can leave. Had to. I love environmental portraits like this that tell a story and convey a message.

I just had my portraits taken today for a new employment opportunity.
I have to say that this studio is just simply the best.

Colby got a hold of me promptly and kept open communication the entire time. The time spent in the studio was great.
He sat there and listen to me as I complained because I looked like death in some pictures.
I received my portrait just later today and it is immaculate.

Don’t go anywhere else.
Our whole team was amazed by this experience. Colby took extensive time with each of our team members and made sure each and every one was happy with their photo. He was patient, kind and professional. He worked to accommodate our scheduling needs and was very prompt. Our pictures came out better than expected! If you want your pictures done right, choose the best, and that’s Colby!
I always hate having my picture made, makes me nervous and true to my nature when I got to Colby’s office – I was a ‘tad bit’ uptight. But he was great, very kind and understanding, soon put me at ease, brought the laughter out. I think the photo he took shows it too! I am quite pleased with the quality and the care he took in touching up, asking my input all along the way. Highly recommend Colby’s Photography!
Colby listened and communicated well throughout the process. Before taking a single shot, expectations were discussed, defined and recorded. He made sure to understand the true need and desired use(s) for the images he was producing for our firm. Ultimately he met expectations and we look forward to collaborating more in the future
Colby knows lighting and the best angles to achieve a fabulous photograph. He is a highly trained professional in his field, and his work shows it. I look forward to working with him again in the future.
