This #TherapyThursday, meet Barb, who isn’t letting fears about back pain hold her back.

Barb has been through two back surgeries, and though the severe pain in her lower back improved, she still felt weak in her core and leg muscles. She also was apprehensive about moving her spine in directions that could cause her pain.
Because she’s planning her first vacation in years and doesn’t want to hold her family members back from a great trip, Barb sought help from a physical therapist and physical therapist assistant at Blount Memorial Total Rehabilitation. Together, they helped guide her on proper exercises to increase upper body strength and trunk mobility and improve her balance to be able to successfully return to activities of daily living with more confidence.
Now, Barb has signed up for kayaking while she’s on vacation, something she’s never done before!

Blount Memorial Hospital

Went with a swollen face and in severe pain. The NP on duty, Steven Boring spent approximately one minute in the room with me, informed me that he doesn't prescribe narcotics, then left the room. If he would have taken the time to listen or even talk to me, he would have known that was requesting antibiotics, not pain medicine (I can do that with Tylenol). He made me feel like trash. Never go to this hospital. I should have listened to everyone in Blount County that says never go there. Next time I will drive the extra 15 minutes to UT hospital.

This hospital has the worst most confusing billing system ever invented. The accounting staff are disrespectful and full of attitude and they overcharge the bills while making it virtually impossible to track the charges combining multiple visits and even family members' charges/credits. If you don't want to be scammed by this institution, go elsewhere.
This hospital is so hit or miss, it's ridiculous! One day you'll get the best care and the next you get treated like you're a complete inconvenience and that you're only seeking drugs. It's absurd and dehumanizing. My husband has pneumonia (along with serious pre-existing illnesses), was struggling to breathe and was taken by ambulance to Blount Memorial. He requested a breathing treatment and was met with a condescending"We don't do that, not going to happen." If you're no longer passionate about helping people maybe don't stay in the career you're in. Also, don't lie and say you don't give breathing treatments with pneumonia when yes you do. I've gotten one. Our child received one. My husband has numerous times.... Specifically to help with pneumonia!
I had my thyroid taken out on Monday Sept. 23 and had to say overnight, the staff was amazing. Each and everyone of them, they were friendly, helpful, professional , and respectful. I had a great experience I was very worried and scared but they all made me feel very comfortable. Thank You Tina
I take care of my grandfather who is bedridden at 83 years old. He was admitted there for several days and finally discharged to come home. 4 days after being home we had to rush him to UT hospital for excessive bleeding in his 24/7 catheter... which was a result of the catheter being placed in the WRONG AREA at Blount Memorial! It caused internal bleeding and several blood clots. He is in a lot of pain from this so he will never be back there again. If they can't properly put in a catheter then they shouldn't be a hospital.
