Pausing Billing & Waiving Fees + Sharing My Tragic COVID-19 Loss

Dear Reader,

I write this blog post with a heavy heart. But also with a grateful heart.

On Monday, March 30, 2020 — my dad passed away from COVID-19.

It happened really fast.

He started having symptoms a week and a half prior to his passing … dry cough, high fever, extreme fatigue, nasal congestion, and sore throat … but on Monday, he started having a hard time breathing. And his breathing got shallower and shallower until he passed away in his bed.

My dad lived in New York. He was the deacon at his church for over 20 years and he had just retired from his job at General Motors in January.

He was a good man … he was hardworking and dedicated to his immediate and extended family. He and my stepmother were married for almost 30 years. I was his oldest son, and he had 3 more sons after me.

On Monday, March 30, 2020 -- my dad passed away from Covid-19.
My dad and I in 2013 at our family reunion in Baltimore, Maryland.

In June 2018, he came to visit me in Knoxville during the USA Cycling National Championships. He loved it here … especially the restaurants (Stock and Barrel was his favorite).

I have received an outpouring of support from people in Knoxville during this difficult time. And I am extremely grateful for each and every email, phone call, text message, like, and comment offering condolences. ❤

I hope you and yours are doing well, and you remain safe from this terrible virus. Please be safe, practice social distancing, stay at home, and wash your hands often. This too shall pass.

Sincerely,

Anthony Ragland

Pausing Billing & Waiving Fees

Alan Sims (co-founder) and I are pausing all billing on active KnoxvillePage local advertising accounts until further notice (likely for the next 90 days).

Also, if you’re a local business and you’d like to sell your gift cards or eGift cards on our marketplace, we will waive all fees.

For instance, if you sell a $100 gift card on our marketplace … you will get the full $100 and we will cover all the credit card transaction fees and manage the customer experience at no cost (we normally charge a 15% commission).

We will likely waive the fees until around Christmas time as a gesture of our support to the local business community.

If you are interested in selling gift cards on our marketplace, please email us at co.founders@knoxvillepage.com.

And remember, if you have an option … please do your best to shop local and support our local economy.
